The fretboard consists of 7 notes. In alphabetical order they are:
A - B - C - D - E - F - G
Between two notes, except B - C and E - F, we have what is called a flat and/or a sharp note. These are the symbols that are used to determine a flat and a sharp note:
#: Sharp note
b: Flat note
If we list the notes again including the sharp and flat notes we get:
A - A#/Bb - B - C - C#/Db - D - D#/Eb - E - F - F#/Gb - G - G#/Ab
Example 1: C# and Db is actually the same note. The note is a sharp C and/or a flat D.
A standard guitar has six strings (from top to bottom):
E: 6th string
A: 5th string
D: 4th string
G: 3rd string
B: 2nd string
e: 1st string
You can learn the string arrangement easily, by making up a phrase consisting of the letters EADGBe to help you remember it.
